Credit unions were born with a philosophy of “people helping people” and in large part, credit unions are well known for not only providing better banking products, but also for their involvement with their local communities.
At 1st Financial, we’ve taken it one step farther and have teamed up with local organizations who are helping the community achieve personal or financial growth through sustainable housing, job training, and educational programs.
Not only do we sponsor these organization with funds and/or much-needed supplies, but we also serve the organizations hands-on through our employee volunteer program where each employee is given 8 paid volunteer hours per month.

The Little Bit Foundation philosophy is that when you remove the barriers to learning, you give a child hope for the future and empower them to reach their dreams. We assisted Little Bits with the donation of necessities like clothes, hygiene products, coats, and undergarments. Once that barrier is removed, the students can better focus on learning in the classroom.
We teamed up with The Friends of the St. Charles City-County Library to volunteer at their annual book fair. The book fair raises money for the district to provide literacy and educational programs and services.
KidSmart is the only free educational supply store in Missouri that helps equip underprivileged students. They provide services to more than 160 St. Louis area schools and distribute more than $38,000 in free school supplies to students every day.
Junior Achievement is the nation’s largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for the future, and make smart academic and economic choices. We were happy to go into the classrooms and help students get a better understanding of how money moves through a community.
At 1st Financial, we want you to know that when you invest your money in one of our checking accounts or auto loans, you have done more than give yourself a low-cost banking product. You have also invested in the future success and continued change in the communities you love.
Be the change,
